For our homeless ministry, we partner with Christ in the City Missionaries.  Christ in the City is a holistic Catholic service program based in Denver Colorado that integrates charitable works, Catholic spirituality and educational advancement that aims to form college-age Catholics as missionaries in keeping with the teachings of Jesus Christ and the Magisterium of the Catholic Church.

During the school year, we travel to downtown Denver for food and conversation with individuals experiencing homelessness every Wednesday from 11:15 pm - 2:00 pm (meet at Catholic House) and occasionally on Second Saturdays of the month from 11:15 pm - 2:00 pm (meet at Catholic House).  See our calendar for which 2nd Saturdays we will be serving.

On certain fourth Fridays of the month, DU Catholic Campus Ministry will meet up with Christ in the City missionaries to walk the 16th Street Mall, pass out items and interact with people of all walks of life.

On our street walks we want you to be safe, deepen your faith life through prayer and acts of charity, and learn how to serve those the Gospel asks us to look after. A quick rundown of what your evening will look like is as follows:

5:30 pm - Meet at DU Catholic House
6:20- Arrive at St. Joseph's (623 Fox Street) to train for street ministry
7:00- Pack supplies for our walk, gathering prayer before we depart
7:30-8:30- Street ministry on 16th Street Mall
8:30- Depart for St. Joe's
8:50- Debrief to talk about our experiences
9:10- Compline (night prayer, liturgy of the hours)
9:30- Depart

Some reminders to keep in mind for volunteering:

-Dress casually (simple clothes)
-Dress for cold weather (this ministry is outside at night)
-Please leave any fancy jewelry at home
-Bring a water bottle
-You are welcome to bring any donations for the homeless you would like
-Bring a good attitude and a smile (if you are having a really rough day, it may be best to volunteer another day as many of the situations we encounter are emotionally and spiritually draining and may be too much for some people)
-Please be on time out of respect for the missionaries and those we serve
